Aquatic Bodywork and Free Flow

Aquatic Bodywork are practices that comes directly from Shiatsu and other healing practices on land such as Authentic Movement or Organic Body Rebalancing, and they share the same principles of movement medicine with the purpose of physical and emotional wellbeing.

A session is usually a passive aquatic therapy one-on-one with a practitioner or facilitator in chest-deep warm water (around 35°C = 95°F).

During an Aquatic Bodywork session the receiver is immersed on a journey into water where the body is stretched, massaged, and led gradually into more dynamic movements similar to a dance, that gives sense of freedom, release, and enjoyment.

Letting go of muscular tension, and unnecessary patterns in the body that generates unbalance, is easier in water, and your body will feel more flexible and able to do movements that are difficult to perform on land.

Different techniques such as Watsu®, Water Dance®, Healing Dance®, or Aguahara® allow the receiver to be floated on the surface or to experience it underwater, where you can feel the full connection with the element and maybe feel as an aquatic being.

To allow the underwater experience you will be given a nose clip that allows you to breathe comfortably through the mouth when floating on the surface, and helps you to be relaxed underwater without any physical effort.

You will receive clear instructions on how the underwater part works, and you will be guided gently into it, so this will help you to feel safe and relaxed during the session.

The practitioner will connect with your breath and listen to your body natural rhythm and movements to guide you on your journey into water. Each session is a different experience, that can bring different emotional and physical reactions based on the receiver own personal status on the day.
